To honor our spiritual connection to the environment, our mission is to care for the earth by taking small practical green steps to raise awareness.
Twice a year, in the spring and fall, we organize volunteers to clean one mile (between mileposts 2-3) along Highway 96 as part of the CDOT Highway Clean-up Program.
We had a professional energy audit of our church and office building in 2012 to identify where and how we could reduce our energy use and costs. In order to fund the identified energy efficiency projects, we built a small memory garden nestled alongside our church edging it with engraved bricks. While the donations for each special brick helps fund these projects, the garden draws people to pause, relax, pray and enjoy nature.
In 2013 we created and planted a 30′ X 30′ vegetable garden at our Community Garden site. Thanks to all the church volunteers who watered and harvested, we were able to provide many bags of organic fresh produce for our local Sharing Center.
We have set-up recycling in our church office and will focus on education our members on the local recycling opportunities and other issues for sustainable living.
Please join our committee, share your ideas, enthusiasms and love for environmental awareness.
Committee members are Betsy Banks/Dorothy Nepa Chairs, Barb Mullen, Carolyn Creighton, George Creighton.
