The Cliff’s Park Community Garden, located on the north side of the Custer County School is preparing for its fourth year. Last year’s 2013 season was stellar due largely to the efforts of UMW and the Church at large. More than 230 bags of fresh produce were given to the Wet Mountain Valley Sharing Center and VALI assisted living. Who says you can’t grow vegetables in Westcliffe/Silver Cliff? In addition to the leafy vegetables, the CUMC “Open Hearts Garden” also contributed pounds and pounds of zucchini, yellow squash and root crops such as beets and carrots! You will be seeing sign-up sheets soon in the Fellowship Hall and Home Office. Just because you can’t bend and stoop like you used to do doesn’t mean that there isn’t a job for you . . . oh no! . . . there is plenty to do come harvest time and preparing the veggies for the Sharing Center . . . come and see how you can help!
